Our Past Is Always Present.
From its rural beginnings until today’s bustling small town of Monroe, history is large part of the fabric of our vibrant community. Originally, the Paugussett tribe of Native Americans established trails and settlements in the area. The early American colonists settled in the region by the early 1700s. Today’s Monroe bears little resemblance to its early years; this year we celebrate our humble beginnings and recognize the wonderful town we live in today.
